Dr DOBASHI Ritsu is Professor of the Department of Chemical System Engineering, The University of Tokyo. He serves as the director of the Combustion Society of Japan and Japan Society of Safety Engineering. He is also the member of International Organizing Committee of International Symposium on Hazards, Prevention, and Mitigation of Industrial Explosions and the member of editorial board of Journal of Loss Preventions in the Process Industries. He got the Incentive Award of the Combustion Society of Japan, Wacław Cybulski Medal and Award of the Japan Association for Fire Science and Engineering.
Appropriate understandings of consequences of accidental gas explosions are essential to assess the risk of the facility in which combustible gases are used. One of the main consequence of accidental gas explosion is blast wave. Middle and large scale experiments were performed to investigate the intensity of blast wave generated from gas explosions. The experimental results are explained and discussed in this presentation.
